Makenzie Bonney
Makenzie is a proud First Nations actress, recently earned her Diploma of Musical Theatre from NIDA as part of the 2023 cohort. Audiences may recognize her from her role as Sue Snell in Ignite Theatre Company's debut production of Carrie: The Musical. During her training at NIDA, she captivated audiences as Poly in Shanty Soirée by Kurt Phelan and David Gardos.
A standout moment in Makenzie's career was her trio performance of "Where?" by Kate Miller-Heidke at RAISE THE CURTAIN, the 2023 NIDA Gala. She has left an indelible mark on the theatre scene, starring in Packemin's 2023 Les Misérables directed by Luke Joslin, Footloose (2023) as Rusty, and Les Misérables (2022) with the Arcadians Theatre Group as Cosette.
Makenzie's versatile talent extends to roles such as Moana in Moana Jr, Ursula in The Little Mermaid Jr, and Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical. Notably, her compelling portrayal of Princess Fiona in AMTC's Shrek Jr earned her two CAT Award nominations. Makenzie continues to captivate audiences with her passion, skill, and dedication to the art of musical theatre.
